PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her decisive electoral victory, describing it as a strong mandate from the Japanese people.
“A landslide victory and a powerful mandate from the Japanese people. Congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on this historic win,” President Marcos said in a message following the victory of Prime Minister Takaichi’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in a snap election held on February 8.
President Marcos reaffirmed Japan’s role as a close friend and trusted partner of the Philippines, adding its leadership plays a vital role in the region.
The President further said the Philippines looks forward to working closely with Japan’s leadership to further strengthen cooperation and regional partnership.
“As ASEAN Chair, we look forward to working closely with your government to strengthen our partnership and move forward together in advancing stability, cooperation, and shared growth across the Indo-Pacific,” said President Marcos. PCO
