NOTICE: R550 012 Daily Lotto jackpot still unclaimed in East London

ITHUBA, operators of the South African national lottery, have issued a public notice asking the winner of a R550 012 Daily Lotto jackpot to come forward.

The winning ticket was purchased in East London in Eastern Cape, on 2 October 2025.

More than seven months later, the winner has still not claimed their prize.

If you bought a Daily Lotto ticket in East London around 2 October 2025, now is the time to dig through your wallet, your kitchen drawer, your car cubbyhole and anywhere else a forgotten lotto ticket might be hiding.

ITHUBA have confirmed the prize will expire exactly one year after the draw.

After 2 October 2026, the money will be transferred to the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), where they are reallocated to support “good causes,” charitable initiatives, and community projects throughout South Africa.

If you have family or friends back home in East London, give them a quick call.

Tell them to check any lotto tickets lying around. R550 012 is no small change.

How to claim

Winners can claim prizes through any participating retailer, post office, or by contacting the National Lottery directly on 0800 484 822.

Larger prizes need to be claimed at an ITHUBA office with the original ticket, a valid ID and proof of banking details.
