Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has sparked conversation on social media after publicly praising South African mining entrepreneur Solly Soka Madibela, popularly known as MySol, amid growing online comparisons between the two wealthy businessmen.

MySol recently grabbed headlines in South Africa after celebrating the purchase of a luxury villa reportedly worth R220 million on the prestigious Nettleton Road in Cape Town.

The businessman also turned heads after unveiling a customised Rolls-Royce Cullinan valued at more than R16 million during his lavish housewarming celebration.

The luxury lifestyle display quickly triggered debate online, with social media users comparing MySol’s wealth and public image to that of Chivayo, who is well known in Zimbabwe for his flashy lifestyle, luxury vehicles and high-profile gifts.

One Facebook page even claimed that MySol was still “a baby in the money game” compared to Chivayo, who has built a reputation for gifting expensive cars to celebrities, musicians and church leaders in Zimbabwe.

However, Chivayo distanced himself from the comparisons and instead applauded MySol for openly enjoying his success.

Wicknell Chivayo says wealth is not about competition

Responding to the comparisons on social media, Chivayo wrote:

“It’s never always about competition… A man with only 20 million dollars can live the same opulent life if not better and more comfortable than Elon Musk…”

He also praised MySol’s approach to success and luxury living.

“What I personally like about this guy, though I’ve never met him, is that he’s unapologetic about his success and he likes the finer things in life,” wrote Chivayo.

The businessman added that he admired people who openly celebrate their achievements instead of hiding them.
