SASSA confirms the old-age grant payment date for June

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that older persons will receive their social grants on 2 June, kicking off the June payment cycle as the first group to access funds this month.

SASSA prioritises older persons at the start of every monthly payment cycle. This approach gives pensioners early access to their money, reducing financial stress at the beginning of the month. Beneficiaries aged 60 and above who qualify for the Older Persons Grant can collect from 2 June.

How to collect your grant

SASSA processes older persons’ grants through multiple channels. Beneficiaries can withdraw from any SASSA-approved ATM, visit a retail pay point at major supermarkets, or collect from a post office branch. Those with SASSA Gold Cards should ensure their cards are active before the payment date.

The agency encourages beneficiaries to collect early in the morning to avoid peak queues. Visiting pay points midweek also reduces congestion. Never share your PIN with anyone.

Beneficiaries who miss the payment date or experience banking errors should note that 5 June has been set aside as the exception payment date for all grants.
