
MANILA, Philippines — Officials from the Office of the Ombudsman and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are set to testify Tuesday, Day 25 of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, as the Senate impeachment court examines allegations of unexplained wealth, discrepancies in her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs), and prohibited business interests.

- The House prosecution panel will first present Ombudsman Records Division officer in charge lawyer Karen Batu, who is expected to testify on Duterte’s SALNs. She will be followed by SEC Company Registration and Monitoring Department Director Atty. Gerardo del Rosario, who is expected to discuss businesses linked to Duterte and her husband, Manases “Mans” Carpio.
- Batu previously testified before the House committee on justice and confirmed the authenticity of Duterte’s SALNs from 2007 to 2024. Duterte’s declared net worth rose from P7.25 million in 2007 to P88.51 million in 2024, based on the SALNs presented during the House proceedings.
- SEC official, lawyer Gerardo del Rosario is expected to testify on Duterte’s and Carpio’s business interests during Duterte’s vice presidency.
- Del Rosario previously testified that Duterte served on the board of directors of Metro City Chow Foods from 2022 to 2025 and held 500 shares in the company, according to its 2025 General Information Sheet.
