The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain in 38 provinces today, with the North and Northeast hit hardest. The Central region, East and South also face isolated heavy rain. Bangkok can expect fairly widespread thundershowers, with lows of 24-25°C and highs of 33-35°C.
The department warns of flash floods, overflows and landslides, particularly along waterways near foothills and lowlands. The monsoon trough is shifting northward over the North and Northeast. A moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the country and the lower Gulf.
Bangkok
Fairly widespread thundershowers are forecast across the capital today. Lows of 24-25°C and highs of 33-35°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 10 to 20km/h.
North
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain are forecast in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae and Nan. The same conditions extend to Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun. Lows of 22-26°C and highs of 30-36°C are expected, with easterly winds of 10 to 20km/h.
Northeast
Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rain are forecast in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom. Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani face the same outlook. Lows of 22-24°C and highs of 27-31°C are expected, with southeasterly winds of 10 to 25km/h.
Central
Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rain are forecast in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Saraburi and Kanchanaburi. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 32-34°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 10 to 20km/h.
East
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain are forecast in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi and Rayong. Lows of 23-27°C and highs of 29-33°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 15 to 35km/h. Waves reach 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers.
South (east coast)
Scattered thundershowers are forecast mostly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon, extending to Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Lows of 23-24°C and highs of 32-35°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 15 to 35km/h. Waves reach about 1 metre, 1-2 metres offshore and above 2 metres in thundershowers.
South (west coast)
Scattered thundershowers are forecast mostly in Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket. Lows of 23-26°C and highs of 31-34°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 15 to 35km/h. Waves reach 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers.
Warnings
The department urges caution over heavy rain accumulation that may trigger flash floods, overflows and landslides near foothills and waterways. Ships in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should steer clear of thundershowers. Waves there run 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in stormy conditions. The monsoon trough and the southwest monsoon continue to bring isolated heavy rain to several regions.
