Highgate International School Thailand, established through a collaboration between Siam Motors Group and Highgate School UK, has officially opened its first campus outside the United Kingdom. Palakorn Suwanrath, privy councillor, president of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage, and executive committee member of the Chaipattana Foundation, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by the school’s management team, teachers, parents, and guests.
The ceremony marked the opening of Highgate School’s first overseas campus, a British educational institution with a history spanning more than 460 years.
Located in Chonburi near Siam Country Club, Highgate International School Thailand began its first phase of academic operations in August 2026, welcoming children aged 2 to 11 to its Pre-Prep and Junior Schools. The school says it has received a warm welcome from its founding families, and plans to open its Senior School in 2027.
For modern families, choosing a school means choosing an environment and community that will help shape a child’s character and support all-round development. Highgate International School Thailand describes its approach as bringing Highgate’s London educational heritage into the Thai context under the concept “Learning Beyond Boundaries”, supported by a founding leadership and teaching team that has helped establish the school’s academic and cultural foundations from the outset.
Tanyaporn Phornprapha Tangcravakoon, chair of the school board of Highgate International School Thailand, said, “Highgate Thailand was created from a desire to provide a space where children can truly learn and grow as individuals. We aim to build a community where children are encouraged to explore, experiment with confidence and find joy in every step of their growth. We would like to thank every family that has placed its trust in us and chosen to become part of the Highgate family from the very beginning.”
Ben Keeling, head of school at Highgate International School Thailand, said, “I feel enormously grateful to have been granted the opportunity to found this wonderful school and am greatly appreciative to have been able to do so alongside such an esteemed collection of partners and friends. Those in London have been critical contributors and will continue to be deeply involved in the direction of our school through their involvement in its governance.
“As a result of our unerring commitment to the pursuit of intellectual passions, wholehearted participation and the embracing of social responsibility, Highgate students are intellectually, emotionally, culturally and practically equipped to lead a fulfilling life and to make a positive contribution to the world around them.”
The school lists curiosity, rigour, engagement, enthusiasm, community and kindness as the values central to its programme of study.
Campus and facilities
The 70-rai campus in Chonburi, near Siam Country Club, is equipped with facilities the school says are designed to support children in discovering their potential. These include modern classrooms, a library and research spaces, art and music studios, a FIFA-standard football pitch, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and outdoor areas intended to let children connect with nature while supporting their emotional development.
Highgate International School Thailand is currently accepting applications for its Pre-Prep and Junior Schools for children aged 2 to 11, with the Senior School scheduled to open in 2027.
