Marvel is finally assembling the mutant era with Jack Schreier wearing the director’s cap for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men Reboot. The confirmed and rumoured roster reads like a group chat where everyone got exactly what they manifested. But who is Professor X?
Professor X
Professor X, or Professor Charles Xavier, has reportedly been finalised by Marvel Studios, but the identity of the actor remains under wraps before the official team reveal. While it is being suggested that Christopher Abbott and Tom Pelphrey auditioned for the role, Marvel Studios does not seem to be leaking the final cast.
Christopher Abbott has been a recognised actor for his intense, chameleon-like performances across independent cinema, major TV series and theatre, breaking into mainstream public consciousness as Charlie Dattolo in HBO Series Girls. He also starred in Oscar-nominated film Poor Things. It is suggested that Abbott’s ability to bring psychological depth to complex figures explains why director Jack Schreier had him formally audition for Professor X.
Tom Pelphrey is renowned for delivering powerful, emotionally raw performances across major TV Series, films and Broadway, catching Hollywood’s attention in the mid-2000s with Guiding Light, a breakout role that won him Daytime Emmy Awards. It is Pelphrey’s ability to tap into fractured yet deeply sympathetic psychology that made the director consider him for Professor X in X-Men Reboot
Sadie Sink
Sadie Sink was already a part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day with the mutant energy. The rumours of her casting circulated for over a year before the official confirmation of Sadie Sink as Jean Grey.
Samara Weaving
Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ X-Men Reboot. Weaving is set to portray a highly complex telepathic version of the character known for her sharp wit and the ability to turn her skin into organic diamond. Speculations suggest that the narrative is expected to follow her evolution from a morally ambiguous adversary to a major leader.
Kit Connor
Kit Connor has been cast as Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men Reboot. Major industry trades reported that director Schreier, along with Marvel head Kevin Feige, chose Connor, Heartstopper and Warfare star after an intensive summer audition and screening process.
The other names that pop up in the group chat of speculations are Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Inde Navarrette, Jayme Lawson, Julia Butters and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss; none locked but speculated.

Marvel is reportedly finalising the full ensemble, which is basically the bowl of nerd announcements. The way the internet collectively predicted Sink’s casting a year before confirmation with all determination and belief is worth noting.
What we can be certain about is the fact that X-Men Reboot is finally taking shape. Marvel has not announced the plot or the dates officially. All the shared information is highly speculative. Everyone wants to know who Professor X will be this time.
