A 45-year-old father has filed a police report accusing his son-in-law of beating his two young sons with a golf club. The boys were left injured after they skipped school. The father, Wisanu, reported the assault to Bang Bua Thong police on August 20. He named the suspect as Don, around 20, and brought the golf club in as evidence.

The attack happened around 2:30pm on August 20, at a community in Moo 2, Lahan subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi province. The two boys, 11-year-old Pong and 7-year-old Pang, ran out of the house to seek help. They said Don had hit them on the head, face and body with a golf club.

Their 69-year-old grandfather, Wichai, said he was resting in a hammock when he heard the boys crying. He opened the door and found the suspect holding the golf club, while one of the boys had his hands raised in a wai, trying to plead with him.

When Wichai tried to reach the room from another direction, he said he saw the suspect holding a knife before someone stopped him from going further.

Wisanu, who wasn’t home at the time, said the suspect is his sons’ brother-in-law, married to their older sister. He said the attack was likely triggered by the boys skipping school. He added that the suspect had threatened them before and appeared to be under the influence of cannabis.

Pong said he and his brother were sitting in a room when the suspect came in. The suspect scolded them for skipping school, then hit them both with the golf club several times. His younger brother ran to tell their grandfather. Pong raised his hands in a wai, but the suspect slapped him on the head anyway. Their father took them to see a doctor afterward.

Local aides to a Nonthaburi MP, Saichon Nitkham and Kraithawat Thammathada, said they received a call around 7pm. It reported that two boys had been assaulted by their sister’s partner over skipping school, with injuries to the head, jaw and hands. They helped bring the family to file the report at Bang Bua Thong police station.

Police have referred the boys for a medical examination and plan to interview the parents and children with a multidisciplinary team before summoning the suspect to face charges.
