A passenger reported belongings worth around 600,000 baht missing from a suitcase after flying from Bangkok to Krabi, prompting Suvarnabhumi Airport to investigate the baggage’s journey through the airport.
The passenger posted on social media that they travelled on Thai VietJet flight VZ342 from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Krabi on August 21.
After the journey, the passenger reportedly found signs that the checked suitcase had been opened and damaged, with belongings worth around 600,000 baht missing.
Suvarnabhumi Airport said yesterday, August 22, that it launched an investigation and coordinated with the airline, its ground-handling provider and other relevant agencies to establish what happened.

Airport officials reviewed system records and CCTV footage covering the suitcase’s journey through Suvarnabhumi’s baggage-handling system. The review found no irregularities while the bag was under the airport’s responsibility.
According to the airport, the baggage passed through the airport’s Explosives Detection System (EDS) and was given a “CLEAR” status, meaning no dangerous objects or explosives were detected. As a result, the suitcase did not require a manual security inspection.
The suitcase was then sent to the baggage sorting area, where Pattaya Aviation Company Limited handled the loading process on behalf of Thai VietJet.
The airline has since contacted the passenger and will continue assisting them and coordinating further checks under the relevant procedures.
In a similar case, a Thai woman accused customs officers at Manila International Airport in the Philippines of attempted theft. She said the officers tried to steal 40,000 yen (about 10,000 baht) from her bag.
