A court in Osaka has ordered a woman to pay child support to her ex-husband. He had raised their three children alone, and later learned the youngest was not his.
The man, using the pseudonym Sutomu, said he divorced his wife four years ago after discovering she had been unfaithful. She refused to take the children, leaving him to raise all three alone, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation reported.
About two and a half years later, Sutomu said, he took his youngest child for a DNA test. The results showed the child had been fathered by his ex-wife’s affair partner.
When confronted, his ex-wife admitted the child was not his, Sutomu said. He then sued her for child support. On August 17, the Osaka District Court ordered her to pay 3.3 million yen, about 680,000 baht. The ruling came after four years of him raising the children alone.
After the case drew attention, Sutomu opened an X account, @takuran_nikki, to post further details about his ex-wife’s conduct. The Thaiger has not independently verified the claims made in those posts.
In one post, Sutomu shared photos of himself with his children, and quoted a message she sent when she left. He said she asked him to collect the children from Osaka and take them to Tokyo. She told him her new partner did not want the children around, though that partner was not the man who fathered her youngest child.
At the time, Sutomu said, the children were two, nine and 14 years old. He said suddenly having to raise three children alone was difficult, especially after previously working away from home. But he now believes it was the right decision.
Sutomu said his ex-wife later asked to reconcile, arguing it would be best for the children. He noted she had had an affair, given birth to another man’s child, and given up custody. He said she has never paid child support since.
Sutomu said he still loves his youngest child and intends to keep raising him despite learning the boy is not biologically his.
Sutomu also alleged his ex-wife told their two older children that their youngest brother was not related to them by blood. He accused her of leaving hostile comments on their eldest child’s social media, after the child got along well with his new partner. He shared what he said were the eldest child’s replies to her, reportedly written when the child was 11.
The case has drawn heavy public criticism of the ex-wife online. Sutomu said he had sought 16.5 million yen, about 3.4 million baht, in child support, but the court awarded 3.3 million yen. He said he had not planned to appeal, but is now considering it after seeing the public reaction.
