- The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court has rejected Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke’s third bail bid, citing public safety risks and the gravity of his alleged crimes.
- The musician faces nine charges, including three counts of attempted murder, following a violent road rage incident in late 2025.
- With the case now postponed until 15 May, the proceedings will move to the regional court as public opinion remains deeply divided.
Polokwane musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, professionally known as Shebeshxt, has been denied bail for the third time.
The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court dismissed the application on the grounds of the severity of the charges against him, which stem from a reported road rage encounter in November 2025.
Chauke currently faces nine criminal counts, including three of attempted murder.
These charges follow allegations that he opened fire on motorists and subsequently wounded a fan.
Highlighting concerns for public safety and noting previous unsuccessful applications, the magistrate ruled that the rapper must remain in custody.
The case has been postponed to 15 May, at which point it will be transferred to the regional court for further proceedings.
The decision has sparked a polarized reaction among his following; while some supporters are campaigning for his release, others have welcomed the ruling as a necessary step toward justice.
