FIVE LOYALTY REWARDS PROGRAMS TO HELP YOU SAVE
Standard Bank (UCount)- Standard Bank account users can potentially get up to R10 per litre back when filling up at an Astron or Caltex outlet. However, clients need to be on Tier five, so terms and conditions apply. Clients also have to have a transactional account in good standing, not including savings and credit card account. You would need to have at least two other Standard products in different categories. Rewards are capped at a monthly spend of R2,500 on fuel or oil, or 20% of your total spend on your card, whichever is lower.
First National Bank (eBucks) – Allows members to earn up to R8 per litre back in eBucks by filling up at Engen and paying with a qualifying FNB/RMB Credit Card. Fuel rewards are capped at a maximum qualifying spend of R5 000 per month on Engen fuel. Payment must be made at the Engen forecourt/pump, not in the Quickshop. All accounts must be in good standing, meaning not overdrawn or in arrears.
ABSA – 30% cash back at Sasol. However, the percentage of cash back depends on the tier and payment method.
Discovery Bank – You can earn up to 50% back filling up at BP or Shell by maintaining good driving behaviour. Earn up to 20% back in Discovery Miles on fuel purchases at bp or Shell when using a qualifying credit card. By combining both, you can maximise rewards to get a significant portion of your fuel spend back, often over 50% combined in value. You need to use your Vitality Drive card and pay with a qualifying Discovery Bank card at participating BP or Shell service stations.
Capitec – 20c cash back per litre at Shell when you swipe a registered Shell V+ Rewards card and pay with a Capitec card. Fuel rewards are capped at 150 litres per day or a maximum of 3 transactions per day. Payments with a Fleet card generally do not earn V+ rewards. Rewards cannot be redeemed as cash; they must be spent at Shell service stations.
Since the fuel price hike in March, it has been reported that there was a 35% drop in fuel spending in April.
