PHOENIX (AP) — Since the 1970s, almost every Filipino household in America has sent love back home, whether by hauling balikbayan boxes in person or mailing them to relatives back in the Philippines. These balikbayan packages that held goodies from the U.S. were seen as an expression of love and support during hard economic times.
