Activist and former radio host Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma had only words of comfort to Floda Graé, the wife of Ngizwe Mchunu, during her visit on 13 May.
Ngizwe and Floda have dominated headlines this week after their rural home in Umbumbulu, KwaZulu-Natal, was burnt down.
Notable people who have shown their support for the Mchunu family include Bonginkosi Khanyile, a member of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), Zwakele Mncwango, the provincial chairperson of ActionSA in KZN, and Jacinta, among others.
JACINTA’S COMFORTING WORDS TO FLODA
Floda, who allegedly dumped Ngizwe in 2024, takes Jacinta on a tour of her burnt rondavels in a video produced by Nhlaka Production.
With a light-hearted tone and a chuckle, Floda then mentions that the fire destroyed everything, including her clothes.
Floda says, “My clothes are gone, I only have clothes that I brought with me from Cape Town.”
Jacinta responds, “You’re still laughing, you’re strong.”
In another video, Floda expressed her gratitude to everyone, including Jacinta and her husband, for the food parcels and blankets they brought during this difficult time.
“I don’t know what to say, and I feel like a woman had a hand in this (referring to the food parcels initiative). Thank you so much. May God bless you guys,” she said.
NGIZWE: ‘3 MEN CAME LOOKING FOR ME’
A visibly shaken Ngizwe recounted how his home got torched in a video shared by Nhlaka Production.
The former Ukhozi FM presenter said that while he was in Johannesburg, his wife’s sister phoned to tell him the rondavels were burning after three men came looking for him.
“I received a phone call from my wife’s sister, who told me that three men came looking for me. But shortly after they left, the family realised that there was a fire,” he said.
He also clarified that since moving to Umbumbulu in 2014, he has never encountered any enemies, especially from his neighbours.
“I moved in here in 2014, and my neighbours are not my enemies. And I don’t have enemies who would do something like this,” he added.
