Acquitted ang batikang manunulat/radio and online show host na si Cristy Fermin sa kasong cybel libel na isinampa laban sa kanya ng aktor na si Dominic Roque noong 2024..
Sa natanggap naming text message mula kay ’Nay Cristy ay masaya niyang ibinahagi ang magandang balita at labis na nagpasalamat sa hustisyang nakamit.
Sa lumabas na desisyon ngayong Pebrero 18 na pirmado ni presiding Judge Manuel Gerard Tomacruz, nakasaad na nabigo ang prosekusyon na magprisinta ng sapat na ebidensiya upang pasinungalingan ang mga naging pahayag ng akusado.
“To emphasize, the prosecution failed to establish beyond reasonable doubt that the accused doubted the veracity of the subject statements that she made. Further, the prosecution did not present enough evidence that the statements made by the accused are false, or that she made the statements with reckless disregard. At this point, it must be emphasized that in criminal cases, guilt must be proven beyond reasonable doubt. Since the prosecution failed to meet this burden and did not satisfactorily prove actual malice, the accused should be acquitted,” ang bahagi ng nakasaad sa resolusyon.
Matatandaan na noong May 31, 2024 ay nagsampa ng kasong cyber libel si Dominic sa Office of the City Prosecutor ng Pasig City dahil umano sa mga malisyoso at mapanirang mga pahayag ni ’Nay Cristy laban sa kanya.
