Bigg Boss Season 20 Premiere Episode: Bigg Boss Hindi is officially 20 seasons in, with the formula we are familiar with by now. Salman Khan walks in with a mashup; contestants arrive one by one with some backstories and dramatic introductions, with a dash of mystery to keep the audience hooked.
As soon as that familiar Bigg Boss music plays, we are all back in.
Bigg Boss Season 20 Premiere Episode: Salman Khan Entered with a Performance
The Bigg Boss Season 20 premiere began with Salman Khan performing to his own mashup before the signature introduction, which has, by now, become as much a part of the audience’s collective memory as the show itself.
Then came the contestants: sixteen of them making their way into the house one by one, each with a very different story and reason why they belonged there and if the premiere made one thing clear, it is that Bigg Boss 20 is not interested in giving us a neatly packed group of people.
The list has actors, singers, a gamer, social media faces, reality TV show faces, and even a sporting legend. The people already seem to have enough history between them to make the house interesting.
The ingredients have all arrived: we are just waiting for the flame to be lit.
Kanika Mann Enters First and Is Not Powerless
Television actor Kanika Mann became Sadasya (transl. member) Number 1, but her entry came with a little more than other entries. Shortly after she entered the BB House, Bigg Boss called her to the confession room and gave her the power to be the “puppet master” for the other contestants who would enter and become her “puppets”.
A power to control other contestants at the start of the season is a very chaotic and Bigg Boss thing to do. Before the house even filled, there was hierarchy waiting to happen.
Kanika’s entry was followed by Aasif Khan, bringing another familiar industry story into the package. Then came Qazi Touqeer, the winner of the 2005 singing reality show Fame Gurukul and a national pop sensation of the time. Qazi, while in the house, declared, “I am back on prime time.”
Then Came Heartbreak, Loyalty and a Little Bit of History
Isha Rikhi’s introduction video took a personal turn as she shared her story of heartbreak. Bigg Boss has always understood that a personal story can become a contestant’s first introduction to the audience. Before we see someone’s fights, friendships or questionable kitchen politics, we are given a reason to emotionally place them.
Then came Amrapali Dubey, a Bhojpuri industry actor, whose entry came with another familiar face attached as actor Dinesh Lal Yadav arrived to drop her into the house. Then there was actor Rohed Khan, introduced by Salman Khan as “loyal” to Amrapali.
Rhiya Ahir and Love Gill Seemed to be on a Battlefield
Rhiya Ahir and Love Gill were the two contestants fans were going to vote to let in.
The two were seen taking digs at each other: commenting on each other’s work, interviews, and “pronunciation” during their entry segment, giving the premiere a little taste of the interpersonal tensions Bigg Boss survives on. The comments also went personal, which became the topic of discussion among the audinece on the internet.
It was Love Gill who eventually got the ticket into the house after receiving more votes from the audience, and that is a very Bigg Boss element, as the audience gets involved before contestants have even met them.
Mary Kom Made a Grand Entry
Salman Khan introduced Mary Kom, and that is where the tone shifted completely. Her introduction was grand because the achievements demanded it. The boxing champion arrived with her two sons, who came to drop her off, and then came a surprise video of Priyanka Chopra, who portrayed Mary Kom in her biopic, wishing her the best.
It was one of the moments that reminded the audience that Bigg Boss is not just about pulling people from different corners of television, cinema and music. Putting a champion in a house where people will eventually argue over food, chores, nominations, and absolutely everything under the sun is perhaps a more fascinating casting choice.
Yung DSA Brings the P-Town Energy While Scout Walks in with a Warning About His Tongue
Yung DSA, an Indian rapper, walked in with a P-town energy and a playful persona. The rapper seemed straightforward and is perhaps the youngest player in the house.
Then came Tanmay Singh aka ScoutOP, a gamer. He received a video with messages from CarryMinati, Abhishek Malhan aka Fukra insaan (Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 first runner-up), and Elvish Yadav (Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 winner), all essentially warning him to control his tongue. Salman Khan naturally had to ask about “bad tongue”.
Scout’s response was direct: Tanmay is a very quiet person, but Scout is not because he has to survive in the game.
Arishfa Khan, a former child actor and a popular Instagram influencer, followed the line of contestants and entered with a very cheerful and bubbly energy.
Actors and Reality Show Stars: The House is Expanding
Aman Gandhi, a name attached to the popular TV show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, was then welcomed alongside reality-show fame Gullu aka Kushal Tanwar, who was introduced as a three-time reality TV show winner. He mentioned that it is only after failures that he has started gaining these wins.
Uditi Singh joined the two on stage, and they walked into the house.
Then came a particularly family-driven energy with Manoj Tiwari, who had come to send off his daughter, Rhiti Tiwari. Rhiti Tiwari wants to become a rockstar, and with her entry, the house reached 15 contestants.
Manoj Tiwari was a contestant in Bigg Boss Season 4, and now, 16 seasons later, his daughter has entered.
And Finally, Mahi Vij
The sixteenth and final contestant was a popular television name: Mahi Vij. Her entry came with an interesting little piece of context: she had apparently been approached by the team multiple times before refusing until this season.
She mentioned that it was her children who motivated and pushed her to accept and go as a Bigg Boss contestant.
The Real Bigg Boss Energy Has Already Started
The premiere was not completely just about introductions. There was already a small glimpse of what the house dynamics could look like.
Mary Kom and Qazi were seen fighting over the single bed, although it was not exactly a brutal showdown. It felt almost like the kind of silly disagreement that could either disappear in an hour or become the foundation of a much longer rivalry.
However, then came the teaser segment for the next episode, which might be the most interesting part of the premiere. Mahi Vij is seen throwing orders at the other contestants, picking fights, and very quickly finding herself on the other side of the house’s collective patience on day one.
Bigg Boss 20 seems like it has no time to waste, and the premiere gave us a mocktail, leaving enough unfinished drama for the next episode.
