Colors of Evil: Black Ending Explained: Netflix continues bringing to life Sobczak’s twisted novels that explore grief, trauma and concealing the truth for decades. Following Prosecutor Bilski once again in a new setting, we watch as things get from bad to worse for him as he is forced to push back against decades of silence to find a missing boy.
Set in the picturesque small town in Poland’s Kashubian region, the film is less concerned with delivering a conventional mystery and focuses more on exploring how communities hide the truth regardless of the consequences. The film’s ending brings these themes in sharp focus, leaving viewers disturbed and with questions surrounding justice, guilt and whether exposing the truth is enough.

Colors of Evil: Black Ending Explained
What Happens in the End?
By the midpoint of the runtime, Bilski has exposed the town’s long-buried secrets that all connect with the present disappearance. It’s a chilling truth that exposes how the recent predicament is connected to every adult’s decision to keep the uncomfortable truth buried for decades. Throughout the investigation, the residents refused to talk about the molestation of kids in the church when Julia Sarman was a child. Those who were in the choir at that time refuse to acknowledge anything, and their parents are reluctant to mention that anything happened at all.

As the silence becomes as important as the crime itself, Bilski finally exposes that it was Chojnacki, the local meat plant owner, who was behind the ordeal. He had paid off Adam’s family 2 years ago after he went missing, and was also a part of the church’s foundation where the molestations took place. However, Piotrus wasn’t abducted by him, since he’s been long dead, and neither was it his son Marek.
Who Was Behind Piotrus’s Abduction?

When Bilski realises that it’s neither the Chojnacki men, he delves deeper and finally realises that the person who abducted Piotrus was the one who organised the fair, from where the child was abducted. He puts two and two together and finally reveals that the abductor is Nicki, Chojnacki’s illegitimate son, whom Chojnacki had fathered with a 14-year-old choir singer. Nicki is a traumatised man who has been going through an extreme mental health crisis after being abused by his father and seeing his mother end her life in front of him.
Do the Guilty Face Justice? Is Piotrus Safe?

At the end of everything, Bilski also exposes that not only was Adamczyk involved in this cover-up, but so was Andrzej Pakosz, who knew about his own son’s molestation and kept silent. Bilski realises that it’s a horrifying cycle of silence and abuse, where the abusers are happy to keep the norm going regardless of the consequences, and the abused only suffer in silence. His arrival in the town exposes the town’s dirty secret and hopefully brings about a new change where everyone stands up for what’s right. In the end, everyone guilty is sent to prison.
In the end, Piotrus, too, comes back home safe.
Does the Ending Set Up Another Movie?
The Colors of Evil franchise is adapted from Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak’s trilogy, so it’s only fair that another instalment is coming up. Although the central mystery is over, we might see Bilski going on a personal journey of growth as he continues to expose the truth and save people from the consequences of silence.

What Does the Ending Mean?
The film exposes how darkness and evil can never be removed but can only be dealt with. The town’s downfall came with years of silence in the face of greed. However, Bilski refused to bow down to pressures from those above him and exposed a devastating truth that finally put an end to the cycle of abuse that kids have been subjected to for years. The abuse isn’t just physical, it’s mental as well and lived with the children for years afterwards and changed everyone in ways beyond anyone’s comprehension.
However, in the end, the truth finally prevailed, and these traumatised kids have now grown up to become responsible adults. Like Julia Sarman, they have stood up against those who want to keep them quiet and push their children down just like them. Bilski’s investigation exposes the cost of looking away, but the truth, ultimately, matters even if it can’t undo the damage.
