Just when we think Ji-ui is all good with Ha-ri beside him and an island that supports him, the series’ writers come up with another plot twist. Episode 10 is basically an hour episode of us watching Ji-ui get hit by a problem that he never expected. The poor man’s past life comes to haunt him, and all we get to see is him getting whacked left and right.
Doctor on the Edge Episode 10 has a runtime of 70 minutes.

Doctor on the Edge Episode 10 Review
The Governor is Annoying
The main leads of the drama have finally come to terms with the truth about the island’s medical system and its culprit: the Governor. Instead of focusing on why the helipad was built incorrectly and identifying the negligence that led to the pilot’s death, the villain strikes at the whistleblower.
Ji-ui is the target, and his past psychiatric issues and history are leaked. Instead of actually focusing on the system that caused the death of the pilot, the headline focuses on the doctor’s mental health issues and literally shifts the whole narrative. I was super mad when they started to forget the real reason behind the pilot’s death. Infuriating!

Ji-ui Needs a Hug and a Break
Honestly, at this point, I believe Ji-ui’s character is by far one of the most attacked characters in Kdrama universe. I mean, every week and in every episode, he faces some issue that torments him. Just when his love life seems to be doing fine, a second male lead causes trouble, or Ha-ri herself misunderstands and now this. A huge medical history is causing him distress in his relationship. Like, give him a year’s leave.
After spending years blaming himself for Seonu’s death, losing his fiancée and finally beginning to heal with Ha-ri, the universe immediately decides to test him again.

Speaking of the cast, Lee Jae-wook continues to carry this series with ridiculous ease. One minute, he’s awkwardly trying to sneak off with Ha-ri for a romantic moment, the next, he’s standing in front of rumours and past that cause him stress and break his spirit.
Ha-ri Is the Biggest Green Flag on This Island
If episode 9 is all about Ha-ri becoming Ji-ui’s support, episode 10 is all about proving why she’s the one Ji-ui needs. She isn’t an overly dramatic lovey-dovey person, but a strong woman who actually shoos the demons away to protect Ji-ui.
His engagement crumbled when life became difficult. His relationship with Ha-ri, meanwhile, seems to grow stronger every time life throws another disaster their way. Instead of running away from the hard conversations, these two actually sit and communicate.

Though next week’s preview teases more heartbreak (probably because Ji-ui feels he’s the problem), but honestly? Haven’t these two suffered enough? Just let them be happy for once!
The Ex Is Not Beating the Allegations
I’m still trying to figure out Ji-ui’s ex-fiancée. Is she the one who exposed Ji-ui’s medical history? Is it for revenge? or guilt? Or is she upset that he is no longer hers and has moved on with another woman? Or does she feel useless and wants to grab the attention?
Whatever the reason, she doesn’t feel safe. She is traumatic. If anything, her actions only make the contrast between her and Ha-ri even stronger. One relationship collapsed under pressure, while the other keeps surviving everything thrown at it.

Chi-hyeon’s Role Feels Dumb
In one episode, he’d seem completely respectful. The next, he’d look like he was preparing to shoot his shot again at Ha-ri. Then he’d disappear into the background. I mean, why is he even here? In episode 9, he chuckles as he catches Ha-ri and Ji-ui sneaking into the home. But suddenly, when Ji-ui is in deep trouble, Chi-yeon’s spirit is up. What is his character for? Makes no sense.
Final Thoughts
Though episode 10 didn’t really cover much of the problem, it ignited it well. The finale week is arriving, and we are going to see how this issue gets solved, why the ex is acting up, what’s the deal with the governor, how Ha-ri and Ji-ui are going to make it through, etc.

At this point, my wishlist for the final two episodes is very simple: expose the governor, let Ji-ui clear his name, keep Ha-ri exactly where she is, and please, let him have a break.
