Everything to Know About Forever Season 2: Forever was never really about just an easy version of a first-love situation, but it gave us Keisha and Justin and made them fall hard in love; it let them grow into people who wanted different things and did the most painful thing possible: it let them walk away while they were still so in love.
Keisha and Justin are coming back with Forever Season 2.
Everything to Know About Forever Season 2
The creator, showrunner and executive of Netflix’s Forever Season 2, Mara Brock Akil, took to her Instagram story to confirm the milestone of wrapped production after an 80-day shoot that took the production from Los Angeles to New York and also to Martha’s Vineyard.

Netflix, on May 8, reported the beginning of the filming of Season 2, which reportedly has concluded, with the series now heading to its post-production stage.
When Will Forever Season 2 Be Released?
While there is no exact date and Netflix has not announced the premiere yet, there are speculations that the series will arrive in 2027.
As of late August 2026, the filming has wrapped up, and the show seems to have entered its next stage. We cannot expect Keisha and Justin to casually appear on Netflix’s homepage next month.
What Is Forever Season 2 About?
Season 2 is not simply picking up the morning after the Season 1 goodbye. There is a four-year leap. Season 2 moves four years forward after Keisha and Justin went their separate ways.
Both have been living their own lives, building careers, navigating lives and presumably attempting to figure out what adulthood really is.
What we expect is the question, like can exes be friends and given that it is a series, things can even get messier. The Season 1 finale deliberately left Keisha and Justin apart but not broken. Keisha was heading to Howard University while Justin chose to pursue his interest in music.
The moving away was not framed as failure, but two young people realising that loving someone cannot shrink their future.
Who Is New in Forever Season 2?
Season 2 is seemingly expanding with new additions. Malaiaka Guttoh, Avery Willd Jr and Tre McBride are reportedly going to join the new cast list.
Their relationships with Keisha and Justin have not been unpacked yet, nor have their stories been. Perhaps half the fun would be discovering the people who come alongside each other and reveal new stories.
Season 2 is Taking Forever Beyond LA
Season 1 was deeply tied to LA, and it was not just where the story happened; LA was another character in the show. Season 2, however, has expanded production across LA, Martha’s Vineyard and New York.
This does not necessarily mean Keisha and Justin are permanently relocating, but it does suggest that their lives have perhaps become bigger since we last saw them. They have turned into adults, perhaps with dreams that may not involve each other.
Why Does Season 2 Make Sense?
There was always a danger that bringing Forever back could undo what made the first season special. The Season 1 ending worked precisely because it did not force a traditional happily-ever-after, but it gave two distinctly identifiable protagonists. It showed how a relationship can end without being hateful.
The four-year leap seems like a smart move given that we would now be seeing two adults who have had years to live without each other and figure out life at large.
The Music
The music was always part of Forever’s emotional language, and Season 2 seems to be keeping that. Grammy winner Khris Riddick-Tynes is the executive music producer of Forever Season 2, and Kier Lehman returns as music supervisor. Original music will be provided by Until Tomorrow.
Considering the growing relationship with music that Justin was building, making it a major thread in Season 1, this feels particularly fitting.
What Happens Next?
Production is done, and Keisha and Justin are back in the editing room before coming back to our screens yet.
After months of filming across three locations, Forever Season 2 seems to enter its next phase with a speculated 2027 release.
The most exciting part of the new season is perhaps not whether Keisha and Justin would end up together, but it is getting to see who they became when they were not together, because Forever has never really been proving that one person is your forever. Sometimes it is more about understanding that someone can change your life forever, and even if they might not stay “forever”.
If Keisha and Justin find their way back together after four years, they surely would have a lot to talk about.
