Tae-ju Gets Closer to the Truth

Tae-ju’s suspicion of his father-in-law increases. He believes that Dr Ko is involved in the conspiracy and is the one who planned everything. Tae-ju doesn’t agree with the official ending of Dr Ha’s death because he believes Gyeongae’s testimony saying Ha is the mastermind might have been just her side of the truth. Tae-ju believes Ha himself is a victim of someone bigger.

That uncertainty keeps the mystery engaging while allowing Tae-ju’s intelligence to shine.

Dr Ha Becomes the Convenient Scapegoat

The police conclude that Dr Ha orchestrated the unethical medical practices and recruited Man-hee and Gyeongae to kidnap Se-yun. The cops decide to capture Man-hee somehow and close the case. But the senior officer, Do-sik, is not convinced.

He openly admits to Tae-ju that the evidence feels almost too perfect. Rather than celebrating the end, he suspects someone higher up may still be manipulating the investigation. Tae-ju doesn’t respond much, but his silence speaks volumes. He already knows the real mastermind. Will Do-sik find the truth through Tae-ju’s help or find other substantial evidence?

Money Determines Who Lives

The episode’s most disturbing truth comes out after Tae-ju examines why Gyeongae didn’t receive her surgery in the past. Gyeongae has always believed her surgery was rejected due to her past criminal records; however, Tae-ju feels something is off and uncovers the truth. He seeks Se-yun’s help to find data in her father’s room.

Tae-ju then finds that the applications all belong to hospital sponsors. The pattern is impossible to ignore. Gyeongae wasn’t rejected because of her criminal past but was rejected because she lacked financial value to the hospital.

It’s a devastating revelation that perfectly shows the corrupted world that we’re all living in. Gyeongae feels extremely miserable after hearing the truth. She wasn’t simply abandoned by the healthcare system but became another victim of a system.

Myung-hee is Pure Evil

Myung-hee came across as a good woman so far, but in this episode, her personality crumbles. She purposefully checks up on Se-yun in a way that makes it sound as if Tae-ju is so tired of all this. Se-yun wonders why Myung-hee call Tae-ju “oppa”. Myung-hee slyly adds that Tae-ju has been visiting her office to rant his mind off, and this makes Se-yun think that her husband has been seeing another woman.

Meanwhile, Myung-hee herself comes under increasing suspicion. During questioning, Do-sik reveals he has reviewed surveillance footage of the elevator. He tells her that Dr Ha, who pressed the button to the top floor, somehow changed it to the basement after she said something to him. He also traces her lips and figures she said “well done” to Dr Ha and asks her why she would say that.

But Myung-hee states the footage doesn’t have audio and that Do-sik’s analysis isn’t accurate. Moreover, Do-sik also stresses that he is aware of the fact that she was in touch with Gyeongae all this while.

Man-hee Loses Temper

Man-hee, who is on the loose, has no idea what’s going on inside the hospital. All he is worried about is his wife. As his concern for her grows, he even kills a grocery store owner after he unknowingly makes a comment about Gyeongae after seeing the news. His brutal murder of a grocery store owner shows he has lost his patience.

Knife in hand, Man-hee enters the hospital, spots Se-yun, and charges directly toward her. The episode ends at that scene, creating the perfect cliffhanger. Tae-ju is aware that Man-hee is going for Se-yun, and he is on the run to save her too. Will Tae-ju come on time or would it be too late?

Final Verdict

Episode 9 reveals all the needed information that helps the viewers to predict what the conspiracy is, who the main villain is, and new criminals that were hiding in plain sight. It’s so sad to learn that a happy couple, Man-hee and Gyeongae, were exploited and used. This ultimately led them both to lose their temper and seek Se-yun for their revenge on Dr Ko.
