MANILA, Philippines — Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua has been proclaimed as the winner of district representative race of Maguindanao del Norte 3rd District in the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections.

Macacua was proclaimed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers on Tuesday afternoon. 

According to election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting’s data server as of 3:51 p.m., Macacua received 37,162 votes (79.3 percent), compared to his lone rival Badrudin Mamad’s 9,724 votes. 

Prior to his proclamation as a winner, Macacua said that “[n]ow is the time to unite and continue what we have started.”

He said that the elections may be over, but work does not end there.

“Join me in building a stronger Bangsamoro—more peaceful, more just, and more united,” he added.

Macacua was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the chief minister of the region in March 2025. Prior to his stint as chief minister, he was appointed as Maguindanao del Norte governor in 2023.

He previously served as the Minister of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy from 2019 to 2022. /mr
