MANILA, Philippines — Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua has been proclaimed winner of the parliamentary elections in Maguindanao del Norte’s 3rd District.
Macacua’s victory was announced by the Provincial Board of Canvassers on Tuesday afternoon.
According to election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting’s data server as of 3:51 p.m., Macacua received 37,162 votes (79.3 percent), compared to his lone rival Badrudin Mamad’s 9,724 votes.
Prior to his proclamation, Macacua said that “[n]ow is the time to unite and continue what we have started.”
He noted that the elections may be over, but work does not end there.
“Join me in building a stronger Bangsamoro — more peaceful, more just, and more united,” he urged the residents.
Macacua was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the chief minister of the region in March 2025.
Prior to this post, he held the position of Maguindanao del Norte governor in 2023.
He previously served as the BARMM Minister of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy from 2019 to 2022. /apl
