Heavy rain is forecast in 38 provinces today. The North, Central region and East face the worst conditions. Several provinces there also face very heavy rain, including Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Kanchanaburi and Nakhon Sawan. Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Uthai Thani, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Rayong and Trat face the same risk. Bangkok gets fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain, with lows of 23°C and highs of 31°C.

The Thai Meteorological Department has warned residents in the North, Central region and East to watch for flash floods. Overflows and landslides are also possible near waterways and foothills. A low-pressure cell has moved into the Gulf of Martaban. A rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand.

Bangkok

The capital faces fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain today. Lows of 23°C and highs of 31°C are expected. Southerly winds reach 10 to 25km/h.

North

Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Sukhothai and Phetchabun. Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai and Tak face isolated very heavy rain. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 30-34°C are expected. Easterly winds reach 10 to 20km/h.

Northeast

Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima and Buriram see scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Lows of 23-24°C and highs of 30-33°C are expected. Easterly winds reach 10 to 25km/h.

Central

Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain affect Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi and Sing Buri. Ang Thong, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram face similar conditions. Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi face isolated very heavy rain. Lows of 22-24°C and highs of 28-31°C are expected, with variable winds of 10 to 25km/h.

East

Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo and Chachoengsao see fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Nakhon Nayok, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat face isolated very heavy rain. Lows of 23-24°C and highs of 28-32°C are expected. Southwesterly winds reach 20 to 40km/h, with waves of 2-3 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers.

South (east coast)

Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan see scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Lows of 21-24°C and highs of 30-34°C are expected. From Surat Thani northward, southwesterly winds reach 20 to 35km/h. Waves there reach around 2 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers. From Nakhon Si Thammarat southward, winds reach 15 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers.

South (west coast)

Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket see scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 30-34°C are expected. From Ranong upward, southwesterly winds reach 20 to 40km/h, with waves of 2-3 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers. From Phang Nga downward, winds reach 15 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers.

Warnings

The department has urged residents in the North, Central region and East to guard against flash floods. Overflows and landslides near foothills and waterways are also possible. Ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and should steer clear of thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are advised to remain ashore through 28 September 2026. Wind and waves there are expected to reach 2-3 metres, and above 3 metres in thundershowers.
