Episode 7 has once again proved that this series isn’t really good to watch but can be enjoyed only for the actors and their strong performances. Their heartfelt acting, the cinematography and the visuals are the reason behind this series going forward. Apart from that, the storyline feels vague, and the direction it is going feels off. Uneven pacing, confusing character motivations, and conflicts that often feel underexplained.

A Talented Cast Deserves a Better Script

Honestly, I feel bad for the cast. The chemistry between the lead pair remains one of the show’s strongest assets, but it isn’t put to use much. As we discussed earlier, the second leads and their storyline feel much better. Speaking of the main cast, Hwang In-yeop and Hyeri continue to portray Yi-jae and Soo-bin with warmth and sincerity. However, the story literally makes them feel empty.

Soo-bin remains trapped by guilt over the past, while Yi-jae continues struggling to rebuild both her confidence and career. The emotional journey is just too much and not relatable at all. How long are these emotional beats going to rule this series? It’s time to spruce it up.

Uneven Pacing Hurts the Story

The pacing is very inconsistent. Some important story aspects seem to rush, and emotional conflicts seem to be dragging.

The result is a drama that sometimes feels unsure of whether it wants to be a healing romance or a story to show the tricky world of cinema and how dreams built on the movie industry can suffer. We’re still unsure whether the director wants to focus on individuals trying to save and redeem themselves.

This lack of narrative focus becomes increasingly noticeable. What exactly is the genre of this series?

Confusing Character Decisions Continue

Yu-geon’s decision involving the entertainment company creates emotional fallout, but his reasons feel vague. While it’s clear that Soo-bin strongly disapproves and Ha-na feels hurt, the drama doesn’t fully explain why. We’re forced to understand their choices without even a proper setup for those actions.

As a result, viewers are left trying to piece together motivations. Well, that’s not the viewers’ job.

The Supporting Characters Remain Entertaining

Honestly, Hwang In-yeop and Hyeri are extremely talented, but the supporting characters seem to be overshadowing them and feeling much better.

Yu-geon and Ha-na’s romance is what I’m dying for. In fact, many viewers have started loving the couple vibe from In-uk and Yi-jae’s friend. See? Even a distant supporting character and their side romance is getting attention. Speaking of Ha-na and Yu-geon’s storyline, viewers have various thoughts on it. Some love their emotional journey, while some feel that there is not much romantic chemistry between them.

Still Worth Watching?

Well, it’s giving mixed feelings. The series isn’t entirely awful to stream, but it lacks promise.

The drama remains engaging largely because of its cast rather than its screenplay. The performances and the way they convey the emotional journey do allow viewers to relate. But too much focus on sad trauma feels frustrating.

There is still hope. The story needs greater narrative clarity and stronger scenes to captivate the viewers, or else it’s going to be one of the unnecessary series of 2026.

Final Verdict

At this point, episode 7 proved that the series is still ongoing only because of the beautiful visuals and excellent cast. Dream to You continues to shine whenever its characters share honest emotional moments. However, the pacing is missing the beats; there are no proper explanations behind the characters’ motivations, the conflicts feel repetitive, too many trauma stories, and there isn’t much comedy to add some warmth.

Hopefully the series picks up sooner, or else it’s going to be a huge flop.
