Spooky in Love Episode 8 Review

Kang-wook and Yeo-ri’s Complicated Romance Finally Becomes Official
While in the previous episode, the makers developed the romance, in this episode, it all culminated in a proper relationship. Yeo-ri’s situation is so tense that it is impossible for her to just stay alone. In her current state, it will only benefit her if she ends up with someone, as the rumours surrounding her and ghosts are too much. Thus, when pressure mounted on Yeo-ri to, at least, get the engagement done, she turned to Kang-wook to ask for help yet again. Yeo-ri thought he would say no; however, that did not happen. Kang-wook refused to waste any more time, and he straight away told Yeo-ri that he genuinely likes her and wishes to be with her.
One might think that Yeo-ri was far too easily convinced by his love confession. Yet, that was not at all the case. First of all, Kang-wook had been one of the very few people who knew that Yeo-ri could still see ghosts and knew the repercussions of touching her. He was very much afraid of ghosts, yet he agreed to be with her even after knowing all those things. Hence, Yeo-ri obviously had an easier time accepting his love.
Yeo-ri’s Own Family Becomes Her Biggest Obstacle

Much of the problem that Yeo-ri faces in her life comes from the fact that she has too many rivals in her own family. Her extended family members do not want her to be an heir to the company. They also want Yeo-ri to step down from her position. That is why they constantly try to bring up the fact that she can see ghosts. Such a thing will only create a stigma around her and would make her unfit to run the company. Plus, the family members do not want Yeo-ri to get married to anyone. It did not matter that the man she was marrying was actually just a normal prosecutor.
Min-hwan later takes advantage of this animosity and tries to create his own chance of creating problems in the relationship of Kang-wook and Yeo-ri.
Kang-wook and Yeo-ri’s Connection Was Written in Fate

We finally know how Kang-wook was indirectly involved in Yeo-ri’s life. With the revelation of how he was saved once, it also kind of feels like fate that Kang-wook became romantically involved with Yeo-ri. There is another very important character who ties everyone together, and that was the brother of Min-hwan.
It is also apparent that he did not die just because of an accident. Most likely, Min-hwan was somehow involved in the whole thing.
Kang-wook and Yeo-ri’s Romance Avoids the Usual K-Drama Cliches
Kang-wook and Yeo-ri finally confessed to each other in the most realistic way possible. It was not over-the-top dramatic and again not so bland that it would not entertain. Their chemistry lands in the end. The awkwardness between them is still there, and it just makes their bond far more believable. Their acting also makes their bond feel genuine and organic.

Final thoughts
This episode was a rather simple one that mostly focused on the problems Yeo-ri is facing at her company. We also got some romantic moments between her and Kang-wook at the beginning and toward the end, but they were not too much. Min-hwan’s character is definitely getting more interesting, and it will be great to see how he is connected to Yeo-ri’s past. All in all, this was a decent episode that finally confirmed the love between Kang-wook and Yeo-ri.
